Busy
Bundles
(Ages:
Newborns to 12 months)
Becoming a parent for the first time is a major adjustment!
This is your time to slow down, enjoy your infant and
discuss everyday situations with a new or busy baby in
the house. Come join others like you to discuss weekly
themes around development, how a baby learns, feeding
questions, sleep, fussiness and more. Babies will enjoy
a music and story while parents learn baby signs, infant
massage and other topics of interest to the group. Parent
and infant only please.
Temperament
and Personalities
(Ages:
2 yrs. up to Kindergarten)
Each of our children is unique and has a personality….shy,
dreamer, doer, spirited, etc. Appreciate and understand
your child more with information on the characteristics
and styles each has. We’ll determine type and even
take a look at parent styles and how we interact and live
with one another. This is a fun and enlightening class
that strengthens our understanding of ourselves as parents
and our children. It’s more rewarding when we are
able to work with our preferred styles instead of against.
All preschool siblings, including infants are welcome.
Just Dad and Me
(Ages:
2 yrs. Up to Kindergarten)
Build a relationship to last a lifetime! This special
class is designed just for Dads and their children. Play
with trucks, tractors and trains, explore machines and
make projects like an erupting volcano! Your child will
be so proud to be able to bring Dad to “school”!
We’ll begin each class with a pizza supper, followed
by a short group time of songs and then start our projects.
Don’t miss this once a month fun evening to create
lasting memories for you and your child.
Stay and Play
(Ages:
2 ½ up to Kindergarten)
Just need some time out of the house? Would you like to
meet up with other parents who have same aged children?
Then join us for this "stay and play" class where parents
and children play together in the early childhood room.
There will be an arts and crafts activity, fun in the
sensory table and different classroom centers will be
open to explore. All preschool siblings, including infants,
are welcome.
Parenting
with “Love and Logic”
(Ages:
2 yrs. up to Kindergarten
As parents, we sometimes wonder, “Am I doing this
right? What else could I be doing?” This class will
tackle these tough questions. Through their DVD’s,
authors Jim Fay and Charles Fay offer parents
simple, step-by-step skills for disciplining young children
with love and compassion. Together, we’ll learn
practical strategies for teaching kids responsibility.
We’ll discuss ways to enjoy meals without battles
and reduce the bedtime hassles all while discovering great,
one line comebacks we can tuck away and store in our parenting
toolbox. All preschool siblings, including infants are
welcome.
Movers
and Groovers
(Ages:
crawlers up to 15 mo.)
Your child is now mobile and active. It’s a whole
new world! You have a toddling little bundle of energy
just looking to touch and taste everything and test out
the world (and you). This fun and engaging class will
allow your child to safely explore a new setting while
you are there to reassure them. We will sing songs and
do simple games. Your teacher will lead in-class discussions
each week on various topics such as sleeping, eating,
development and ideas for play. This semester class will
be non-separating.
Terrific
Toddlers
(Ages:
16 mo. – 2 ½ yrs.)
Sharing, independence, bedtime hassles, blossoming words
and expressions…Let’s talk toddlers! Your
toddlers are learning that they are separate and different
than their parents and are willing to let you know it
multiple times during your day. They can say and do the
most treasured things that reduce us to both tears and
laughter. After a gradual separation period, you will
have an opportunity to discuss with other parents topics
on toddler development, listen to a speaker on ways to
promote language, getting our kids to eat and sleep and
any other issues that interest the group. All preschool
siblings, including infants are welcome.
Milestones
and Meltdowns
(Ages:
2 yrs. up to Kindergarten)
Parenting is more fun and less challenging when we understand
what “stage” our child is in and what is appropriate
behavior and development for each
milestone. In the parent discussion group we’ll
spend time chatting about all areas of growth and development,
intellectual, physical and social/emotional. We’ll
discover strategies and techniques that help us and our
kids manage those inevitable meltdowns. We’ll cover
topics on gaining cooperation, teaching responsibility,
parenting
styles, discipline choices and ways to encourage success
in our kids. All preschool siblings, including infants
are invited.
Play
to Learn, Learn to Play
(Ages:
2 ½ yrs. up to Kindergarten)
Play is like a magic wand that opens endless worlds for
children. Through exploration, manipulation, problem solving,
imitation and practice, children grow their minds and
bodies. But what exactly does play look like? How do parents
play with their children to help them master skills, learn
language and explore emotions and feelings? This class
will dive into the world of play with fun and interactive
activities that parents can then do with their kids at
home. We'll look at arts and crafts, cooking ideas, dramatic
play with what's already at home, books and more! Be ready
to create and take home projects and new ideas for your
parenting toolbox. All preschool siblings, including infants,
are welcome.
Predictable
Preschoolers
(Ages:
2 ½ yrs. up to Kindergarten)
You and your preschooler will thrive on this special time
for fun and learning together! You will get to do all
those messy projects that kids love, in our classroom,
not your kitchen! The parent group will decide on topics
of interest such as self-esteem, discipline, communication,
temperaments, and friendships. We could also spend time
on adult issues you choose such as taking care of yourself,
managing your time and family traditions. All preschool
siblings, including infants are welcome.
Kids,
Parents and Power Struggles
(Ages:
2 yrs. up to Kindergarten)
This class is about both a new perspective and new skills.
Gain a new understanding of what exactly is happening
during power struggles. As you build knowledge and insight
into why your child engages you in power struggles, you
will begin to see that your own reactions change as well.
The class will also discuss temperament, the impact of
sleep on power struggles, recognizing stresses and learning
to be assertive rather than aggressive. Will need to purchase
book, Kids, Parents and Power Struggles, Winning for a
Lifetime by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka-$11. All preschool siblings,
including infants, are welcome.
Topics of Today
(Ages:
2 yrs. up to Kindergarten)
Ripped from the headlines…...Do certain foods influence your child's immune system? How does lack of sleep affect your child's behavior? Are children today too plugged-in and over-scheduled? These are just a few of the topics this class will take on in the first semester as we share new and recent trends in the world of parenting. Each week the class will read a new article from magazines, the web or newspapers and discuss thoughts, opinions and ideas. The next semester will be a book review chosen by the parents in the class of a new or noteworthy book on parenting. (Book purchase will be required). Going chapter by chapter and led by the parent facilitator, the group will discuss the book and apply it to everyday lives and daily situations. All preschool siblings, including infants, are welcome.
Totally
Toddlers!
(Ages:
16 months-2.5 yrs.)
Get ready, get set, go! Bring your toddler to a class
just for them! There will be plenty of movement, art and
sensory fun with sand and water. Your child will make
choices, practice preschool skills such as sharing and
taking turns and enjoy new friends. This is a great introduction
to a fun and safe school environment.
Kids
in the Kitchen
(Ages:
2 - 5 yrs.)
Tie on an apron and bring your little chef to our kitchen!
Cooking activities work on math skills such as counting
and sequencing, while kids follow directions and talk
about what comes next. Using the well known book If You
Give a Moose a Muffin, children will do cooking and art
activities while learning about different foods .
Messy
Masterpieces
(Ages:
2 - 5 yrs.)
If it’s a mess, it’s a must! Come and make
gak and goop and let your child experiment and play with
messy materials such as dough, paint and even mud. The
emphasis is on creativity and fun as your child experiments
with different artistic forms.
Storybook
Adventures
(Ages:
2 - 5 yrs.)
Revisit a favorite fairytale: Little Red Riding Hood
in this dramatic class! The focus is on literacy and reading
skills as we re-tell this classic story using different
formats. Dress-up like the wolf at Grandma’s house
or use puppets and art projects to make the story come
to life.
