PACT:
Peer Actions Connecting Teens
| Over
40 Conifer High School student leaders work to promote
healthy relationships and to end violence. |
|
PACT Leaders are thoroughly trained in relationship
violence, leadership education, and teaching skills.
PACT
Leaders take action in 50 elementary, middle and
high school classrooms teaching non-violence to
almost 1,600 younger students. They are role models
who teach self-respect, communication, how to shield
oneself, and how to stand against violence. PACT’s
mantra, “Walk your talk,” epitomizes
that social change begins with the individual and
ripples out to others.
PACT
Coordinators, Heather Kassman and Sheila Kelly,
lead educational workshops with parents and school
staff to help them understand the dynamics of bullying
and how to support their children/students in protecting
themselves from and ending violence. |

TLC:
Teen Leadership Council
TLC
is a community-based, youth leadership program with 15-20
youth from Evergreen, Conifer and Platte Canyon High Schools.
TLC’s mission is to foster healthy, strong, self-reliant,
open-minded youth leaders and to provide a voice for youth
in the mountain community. In TLC, teens learn communication,
writing, public speaking, decision-making, organization,
self-reflection, and leadership skills. TLC publishes
The Platypus,
a quarterly publication that explores important, controversial
issues from many teen perspectives. Each year, TLC also
sponsors safe, drug free events such as youth concerts
and open mic nights.
